1960s POSTCARD FROM FROM JANE FONDA TO HER GRANDMOTHER STATING "...DECIDED I'M NOT THE ATHLETIC TYPE..."
France: 1965. Postcard. 6 in. x 4 in. picture postcard sent by Jane Fonda to her grandmother in Los Angeles. Fonda was then at the ski resort of Megeve, in the French Alps. Postcard pictures the snow covered buildings of the resort. and is postmarked 1965. which was the year she Fonda married French filmmaker Roger Vadim, whom she had met the previous year while collaborating on the film "Circle of Love" when she was 28 years old. Vadim was 38.
The text of the postcard is printed in Fonda's characteristic "loopy-lettered" slightly left-leaning style. It reads: “Dearest Grandma / We’ve certainly been doing a lot of traveling – on our way back to Paris after skiing in Switzerland, France and a couple of (illeg.) in London. Decided I’m not the athletic type! Going to put the finishing touches on my (illeg. "farm?") we’ll return to Malibu beginning of March. Hugs and kisses to Grandpa & Melanie and all my love – Jane.”.
