Half-smooth calf over tan linen.(9 in. x 6 in.). Boards ruled in gilt, with gilt letting to two-hubbed spine. Some rubbing and wear to extremities, mostly at bottom of book.10 pp. plus folding map. Detailed map engraved by O.H. Throop, (12 in. x 18 in.) shows the entire United States border with "Mexico", extending well into today's Southwestern states. "Santa Fee" is located, and today's southern Rocky Mountains are named "Mexican Cordilleras Sierra Madre." There is little civilization -- except Army forts, beyond Missouri.
