Octavo.Pebbled cloth of brick-red with bright gilt and black design to front board depicting a steaming pot cooking over an open campfire, framed by an arch of trees in which weapons are hanging. Circlets to each corner. Mottling and fading to boards. Spine with gilt on black and black and gilt designs. Some past repair to top part of spine cloth is evident. Illustrated with nineteen engravings, many of which are geysers. Lacks Map in front. Printed by H.O. Houghton and Company and bound at the Riverside Press (small identifying sticker to this effect on rear pastedown).
The editor of the series, Bayard Taylor, preferred to emphasize his role as editor of the series -- "The Illustrated Library of Travel and Adventure", of which this volume "Wonders of The Yellowstone" was only one, but it is clear that the editor (James Richardson) did the lion's share of the work.
