Light-green cloth covered boards, stamped floriated borders, with a central vignette, in gilt of the title, surrounding a sternwheeler on the Hudson, flying a flag, this design repeated to rear board. Embossed also on both front and rear boards are "Koch & Co. Binders, N.Y.". Title page is nestled amongst 11 pp. of advertising. 6 pp. of advertising as well, to the rear. Title page bears a stamp
"This Book is a Gift to/The Port Chester Public Library/From" and a line below bears the inked signature of Anna S. Wilson, presumeably
a relative of the author/publisher H. Wilson. Engraved illustrations, views and full page map within, as well. Some flaking/loss to cloth of bottom 2 inches of spine. 91 pp. including endpapers.
Tipped-in foldout map (1848) printed on banknote stock measuring (9 1/8 in. x 7 7/8 in.). Bottom left reads: "Engraved for The Great Metropolis for the year 1848", and the legend lists the geographical coordinates, and the 1845 Population (371,223). The Map is lovely,
and near fine. Item #87413
