London, England: London Printing and Publishing Co., 1862. Map. Steel-engraved hand-colored map of the United States issued just as The Civil War was beginning. The map highlights the non-slave and slave-holding States. Red = Non-slave states; Blue = Slave-holding border states; Yellow = Slave-holding States; Green = Indian Territory. Map includes the briefly extant Confederate Territory of Arizona occupying the southern portion of New Mexico Territory. Nebraska and Dakota are distended, and Montana and Wyoming are unmentioned. Map: 10.25 in. x 16.5 in. Paper: 12 in. x 18 in. Decorative, floral and vine frame.

Four vertical and one horizontal fold line, as originally presented. Light age-toning to paper, with touch of tanning along fold lines. Light scattered spotting with rubbing along bottom edge.
